FPR Fall Conference: Save the Date!

1

This year’s conference will be held on September 20-21  on the campus of Pomona College in Claremont, CA. We will begin on the evening of Friday the 20th with a screening of the new Ron Maxwell film Copperhead. The screenplay was written by FPR’s own Bill Kauffman, who will be on hand to lead a discussion after the screening. Saturday we’ll explore the theme for the conference: City People, Country People: Being a Localist in the Megalopolis. We will have panels on the idea of a city, on the nature of work, on the production of food, and on philanthropy. Speakers will include FPR writers such as Patrick Deneen, Jason Peters, Susan McWilliams, Jeremy Beer, and Ted McAllister. The Angeleno poet and critic Dana Gioia will deliver a keynote address at lunch. This is shaping up to be a fantasitc event you won’t want to miss. Registration information is coming soon.

  1. “Being a Localist in the Megalopolis.”

I really like the fittingness of this title because of its descriptiveness of a group of men traveling across thousands of miles to discuss localism.

We’re all creatures in our own way of the leviathan.
