The Cuckold’s Revenge

1

Front Porch Republic friend Thomas Gahr has just published Box-Shaped Heart (clever title), a novel based on an infamous instance of cuckoldry in 1880s Batavia, New York, involving factory owner E.N. Rowell, his pretty and dissatisfied (and pretty dissatisfied) wife Jennie, and a raffish lawyer-seducer. I think of the Rowell scandal as the O.J. Simpson case of the Gilded Age. Gahr is a skillful storyteller and stylist; Box-Shaped Heart is an engrossing tale.
