  1. Spokane’s city council is developing a wonderful idea. Council leader Ben Stuckart calls it the Market Garden project. He’s loosening the rules on farms and livestock within city limits, and making it easy to obtain an official permit to sell your tomatoes or eggs or milk on your own property. The official permit means a little extra revenue for the city. It also means that you’ll pay a Business and Occupations tax if your income goes over about 25K, which isn’t likely. Food is already exempt from sales tax, so that’s not a factor.
