Since March of 2009, FPR has published hundreds of pieces on this website that explore and advance decentralist and localist ideas. We have hosted lectures and conferences, and we’ve built a unique coalition of writers and thinkers from “left” and “right” to think together about a more humane American future. We’ve even managed quite literally to alter the terms of political and cultural debate: we unwittingly inserted the noun “porcher” into the blogospheric lexicon. From the New Republic to the New York Times, we’ve been praised for our thoughtfulness—and just as many others (maybe more!) have condemned our radicalism.
FPR isn’t an academic exercise. We want to bring together thoughtful men and women across this great land to promote human-scale institutions and the rebirth of authentic human communities. We want to equip people with the tools to recognize the baneful effects of concentrated power in both political and economic forms, and we want to provide readers with the resources to resist the dehumanization that digital technology and artificial intelligence are bringing.
Through this website, our books, a semi-annual print journal, and an annual conference, we seek to encourage rooted communities that foster genuine liberty. We can’t do any of this without your help. Will you invest in our mission by supporting us today?
