Ed Merta

Ed Merta grew up in southwest Ohio and returned in 2021 after a long absence. He is a former environmental attorney who holds an MA (and “ABD”) in history, specializing in the Cold War. He writes a still-fledgling newsletter, Far Green Country, which will reflect on the experience of returning home and the meaning of localism in American life. He enjoys hiking, entertaining nieces and nephews, baseball, science fiction and fantasy, absurd humor, long aimless drives in the countryside, reading about the history of pulp magazines, haunting local museums, the sound of the forest at night, and coffee, among other things.
