John Heaton is the second headmaster at New Covenant Schools, Lynchburg, VA, following the founder of the school, Dr. Robert Littlejohn. He has served since 1998 and is in his twenty seventh year of service. He established the school on its permanent campus and led the development of the school through five successful capital campaigns, providing the facilities which now serve 460 students through grade 12. John is an ordained minister in the Reformed Episcopal Church and has previously served parishes in his home state of Florida. He currently serves as the Priest Associate at All Saints Church, which meets in the Marie Macdonald Chapel on the campus of New Covenant. He holds the BA and MA in theology, and the MA in liberal studies. He teaches intermediate Greek in the School of Rhetoric, writes regularly for the school, and produces a monthly podcast on classical education. He has been married to Heidi for 40 years and has four adopted children. When not working with his students, he enjoys working on his farm in Bedford County, Va.
